A Miami native, Bob’s career began in 1973 when he enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17. He served with distinction in the U.S. Naval Submarine Service for nine years, and later became a Navy pilot, flying missions over the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, as well as in regions such as Africa, the Middle East, and South America. Throughout his career, Bob was known for his leadership and dedication to national service. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University while still on active duty and was selected for the prestigious Naval Aviation Officer Candidate School, where he received his Gold Naval Aviator Wings.
After retiring from the Navy following a successful twenty-year career, Bob transitioned to the private sector before pursuing his passion for law. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law in 2001.
Bob began his legal career at the renowned firm of George, Hartz, Lundeen, Fulmer, Johnstone, King & Stevens, P.A., where he trained under the mentorship of Charles Michael Hartz, Esq., and later became a partner. In 2006, Bob opened his own practice and, two years later, formed Cooke Law Group. In 2009, he and his team represented clients such as Colfin and the FDIC, recovering assets lost during the economic downturn. In 2018, Bob and his colleague Jorge Carbonell combined their strengths to establish Cooke Carbonell LLP, a partnership that continues to deliver exceptional legal counsel and trial expertise.
Bob’s reputation as a trusted legal advisor extends beyond his client work—he has served as an expert witness on case management, litigation, trial practice, and attorneys' fees. He has also lectured on topics such as real property, contracts, and statutory law related to automotive dealerships.
Outside of his professional life, Bob is a passionate advocate for the arts in Miami and enjoys boating and golfing, further cementing his commitment to his community.
